Samantha – Rescued & Living @ Luvin Arms

Our neighbours run a meat and dairy operation. The daughter in that family fell in love with one of the cows and named her Samantha. When Samantha ceased to be “useful” as a dairy cow, the family had decided to send her and all the other “useless” dairy cows to slaughter as usual. The daughter protested and begged her parents not to send Samantha to her death. The family asked us if we would take her and of course we said yes. The little girl had just one request – please don’t change my beautiful Samantha’s name!

Samantha became immediate friends with Marley Rose. Only nine days younger than Marley Rose, Samantha was very nervous of humans at first due to the uncaring and controlling nature of the dairy farmers who raised her. Marley Rose taught her how to trust us over time.

Today, Samantha is the most confident of the lot. Standing 7ft tall – the tallest of the cows – she knows how to get her way! When you find her lying down, try giving her scritches on her neck; if you’re doing it right she shuts her eyes and begins to purr with contentment!
